Israel Warns Lebanon Over Rocket Fire, Threatens to Target Beirut

Baghdad: Israel has issued a stern warning to Lebanon, holding its government responsible for any attacks originating from its territory. This follows an incident where the Israeli army intercepted three rockets fired from Lebanon on Saturday.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz emphasized the gravity of the situation, stating, "We will not allow the reality of repeated fire from Lebanon on Israeli towns in the Galilee." He affirmed Israel's commitment to safeguarding its citizens, saying, "We promised to provide security for the towns of the Galilee, and that is exactly what will happen."

Katz further warned that the proximity of Metula to Beirut places the Lebanese government in a position of responsibility for any hostile actions from its soil. He indicated that he has directed the Israeli army to take retaliatory actions against the sources of any such fire from Lebanon.

The Israeli army's announcement of the rocket interception highlights the ongoing tension in the region. The Israeli air defense system successfully neutralized the threat, ensuring no harm to Israeli territories.

In response to the rocket fire, Israeli media reported that the Israeli Defense Forces launched an artillery attack on the town of Yahmar al-Shaqif in southern Lebanon. This action was taken as a direct retaliation for the shelling of Metulla, further escalating the hostilities between the two nations.
