Tel aviv: Israeli forces announced that they recently raided several military facilities belonging to the former Syrian regime and found large quantities of weapons. The Israeli army explained that members of the reserve forces of the 810th Mountain Regional Brigade, stationed at the summit of Mount Hermon, carried out raids last week on several “main headquarters” belonging to the commando forces loyal to the Bashar al-Assad regime, according to Israeli media.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the forces found more than three tons of weapons at these sites, including anti-tank mines, explosive devices, and missiles. The army stated that its operations in the area aim to prevent the smuggling of weapons from Syria to Lebanon.

The Israeli army further explained that its forces have been deployed at nine points in southern Syria since the fall of the Assad regime last December, most of which fall within a UN-monitored buffer zone on the border between the two countries.
