Istanbul Hosts International Justice Summit Focused on Gaza Violations


Istanbul:The city will host the “International Justice Summit” starting Thursday, with participants including justice ministers, judges, and law professors from over 70 countries. The summit is set to tackle various international issues, with a primary focus on accountability for Israeli violations in Gaza.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Turkish Ministry of Justice has announced that the event will occur over two days, Thursday and Friday, featuring approximately 600 notable attendees. The summit will delve into topics such as human rights, international arbitration, artificial intelligence, and cybercrime, with a particular emphasis on accountability for violations in Gaza.



The summit will consist of eight sessions with 40 speakers, including a key session titled “Application of International Humanitarian Law: Universal Principles and Accountability – The Case of Gaza.” Other sessions will cover international arbitration, international justice and human rights, and topics like social media and liability, the energy transition, and migration and human dignity.



Additionally, 18 bar associations and over 30 international organizations are involved in the summit’s activities. Participating justice ministers are expected to engage in diplomatic and bilateral discussions. Turkish Justice Minister Akin Grlek will open the event, and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is anticipated to attend the second day, where he will address the participants.
