Baghdad: Deputy Commander of Joint Operations, General Qais Al-Muhammadawi, engaged in discussions with the NATO Joint Operations Command on enhancing bilateral cooperation and coordination today, Monday.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Joint Operations Command released a statement noting that General Qais Al-Muhammadawi met with Admiral Stuart Munch, Commander of NATO Joint Operations Command, and his accompanying delegation in his office. The meeting focused on topics of mutual interest, particularly the enhancement of cooperation, joint coordination, and bilateral relations. General Al-Muhammadawi emphasized the continuous development of the Iraqi security forces, highlighting their training and experience in combatting terrorist forces such as ISIS. He noted the ongoing efforts of Iraqi security and intelligence systems in pursuing remaining ISIS elements, which have suffered significant setbacks.

The statement underscored the importance of cooperation through bilateral memoranda that align with Iraq’s constitution and laws, as well as the vision of the Iraqi government and senior security leadership. General Al-Muhammadawi highlighted the need for empowering and equipping Iraqi forces with modern technology and technical equipment. He expressed gratitude to NATO for its support in providing advice, training, and experience exchange.

Admiral Munch, expressing his appreciation for the reception and welcome, praised the progress in the capabilities of the Iraqi security forces and their resilience in facing challenges.
