AMMAN: Jordan will convene a series of high-level meetings this Saturday, bringing together Arab and international leaders to discuss the ongoing situation in Syria, as confirmed by the Jordanian Foreign Ministry.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meetings will be held in Aqaba and are organized at the invitation of Jordan. The Arab Ministerial Contact Committee on Syria, which was established by the Arab League, will be in attendance. This committee includes foreign ministers from Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Lebanon, Egypt, and the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States. Additional participants will include foreign ministers from the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar, as well as the current president of the Arab Summit.

The discussions will extend beyond the Arab world, involving foreign ministers from Turkey and the United States, the High Representative for Foreign Policy in the European Union, and the UN envoy on Syria. The primary focus of these meetings is to explore avenues to s
upport a comprehensive political process in Syria, led by Syrians themselves, and based on Security Council Resolution 2254. The resolution aims to initiate a transitional process that aligns with the aspirations of the Syrian people, rebuilds state institutions, and preserves the country’s unity, territorial integrity, sovereignty, and stability. Ensuring the security and rights of all Syrian citizens is also a key objective of the talks.
