Amman: King Abdullah II of Jordan emphasized the necessity for a unified Arab and Islamic stance and a collaborative effort to counter unprecedented Israeli measures in Jerusalem, particularly at the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Noble Sanctuary.

According to Union of OIC News Agencies, the King's remarks came during a meeting at Al-Husseiniya Palace with the Arab Ministerial Committee. This committee is tasked with international action to confront illegal Israeli policies and measures in occupied Jerusalem. King Abdullah reaffirmed Jordan's commitment to its historical and legal responsibility in safeguarding Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, under the Hashemite custodianship.

The delegation present at the meeting comprised foreign ministers from Tunisia, Algeria, Iraq, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Palestine, Egypt, and Morocco. The Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, along with foreign ministers and representatives from Indonesia, Pakistan, Turkey, and Malaysia, also participated.

In the presence of Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II, King Abdullah warned against exploiting regional unrest to impose new realities in the holy city. He highlighted the risks of the conflict escalating due to ongoing Israeli actions in the West Bank and attempts to annex lands and expand settlements.

The meeting also included discussions on the importance of implementing all phases of the comprehensive peace plan in the Gaza Strip. Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad, the King's chief advisor for religious and cultural affairs and personal envoy, attended the meeting, alongside Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi and the Director of the King's Office, Engineer Alaa Batayneh.
