Baghdad: The President of the Supreme Judicial Council, Faiq Zaidan, congratulated the Speaker of Parliament, Haibat al-Halbousi, on his election as Speaker and on gaining the confidence of the members of Parliament, expressing his wishes for his success in carrying out his legislative duties.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Supreme Judicial Council stated in a press release: “Judge Zaidan received the Speaker of Parliament, Haibat al-Halbousi, today, Sunday, and at the beginning of the meeting, offered his congratulations on his election as Speaker and on gaining the confidence of the members of Parliament, expressing his wishes for his success in carrying out his legislative duties.”

For his part, the Speaker of Parliament commended the judiciary’s efforts in completing the formation of the legislative authority within the constitutional timeframes.

The statement indicated that the two sides discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the legislative and judicial branches on matters of com
mon interest.
