Baghdad: The Rusafa Investigation Court announced the arrest of two defendants who confessed during interrogation to belonging to the so-called Ahmadi Movement of Peace and Light, also known as the Yamani Movement.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement from the Supreme Judicial Council revealed that the presiding judge credited the arrests to diligent efforts and close monitoring by the court, in coordination with relevant security authorities. The court ratified the defendants’ confessions regarding their membership in the movement and their knowledge of the disappearance of a young woman, intending to marry her off outside Iraq and recruit her into the group.

The judge further explained that the defendants were promoting marriages for movement members through their Telegram channel and encouraging young people to emigrate. Investigations are ongoing, and efforts continue to execute arrest warrants issued against the remaining wanted individuals, preparing to take necessary legal measures and refer them to the judiciary for appropriate punishment.
