Judiciary Seizes $20 Million and 60 Kilograms of Gold in Oil Ministry Scandal


Baghdad: The judiciary has made significant progress in the high-profile case involving the Deputy Minister of Oil for Refining Affairs, leading to the seizure of $20 million and the recovery of 60 kilograms of gold.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Supreme Judicial Council announced on Sunday the confiscation of these assets as part of the ongoing investigation into Adnan al-Jumaili, the detained Deputy Minister, and his accomplices. The investigation, which has been conducted in coordination with the Kurdistan Region, also uncovered 200 million Iraqi dinars and seven vehicles linked to the case.



The investigating judge of the Central Anti-Corruption Criminal Court emphasized that the measures taken to track and recover the financial proceeds wasted in projects spearheaded by the accused have resulted in the seizure of substantial sums of money, gold jewelry, and vehicles. The judge further stated that the investigation is still in progress, with efforts to apprehend other individuals involved in the scandal continuing until all legal procedures are finalized.
