Baghdad: The German Football Association (DFB) announced on Friday the appointment of Jurgen Klopp as the new coach of the German national team. Klopp, 59, is known for his coaching achievements both in Germany and internationally.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Klopp's career began with a successful stint at Mainz, where he also spent over a decade as a player. He gained further recognition with Borussia Dortmund before becoming a legendary figure at Liverpool. Klopp led Liverpool to a Premier League title in 2020, ending a significant drought for the club, and also guided them to their sixth European Cup title by winning the Champions League.

The decision to appoint Klopp comes after the DFB dismissed former coach Julian Nagelsmann. Germany faced a disappointing exit from the World Cup, being eliminated by Paraguay in a penalty shootout during the round of 32.
