Baghdad:Justice Minister Khalid Shwani held discussions with the US Chargé d’Affaires in Baghdad, Steven Fagin, regarding the issue of foreign prisoners transferred from Syria to Iraq and judicial cooperation between Baghdad and Washington.

According to Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry of Justice stated that Minister Shwani met with the US Chargé d’Affaires, along with Daisy Bledsoe-Herring, the Legislative Assistant for the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

The discussions focused on handling the transfer of foreign prisoners in accordance with legal frameworks and explored ways to enhance cooperation and coordination in legal and judicial fields between Iraq and the United States.

The US delegation expressed gratitude to the Iraqi government and the Ministry of Justice for their role in the prisoner transfer process. They affirmed the United States’ continued support for Iraq concerning this issue and emphasized ongoing coordination with partners to provide necessary assistance.
