Baghdad:Minister of Justice Khalid Shwani met with Steven Fagin, the Charg© d’Affaires of the US Embassy, to address the transfer of foreign prisoners and enhance legal cooperation between Iraq and the United States.

According to Iraqi News Agency, the discussions focused on transferring foreign prisoners from Syria to Iraq and improving bilateral legal and judicial cooperation. Mechanisms for coordination on handling foreign prisoners within Iraqi laws and international obligations were also examined.

Fagin expressed appreciation for Iraq’s efforts in the prisoner transfer process and highlighted the United States’ commitment to working with Iraq to support these initiatives and strengthen the partnership between Baghdad and Washington.
