Baghdad: The Ministry of Justice announced today, Thursday, the release of 138 juveniles during August of this year, 2026, according to the monthly report issued by the Juvenile Reform Department.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry explained in a statement: “Those released were distributed as follows: 79 detained juveniles were released, 36 juveniles were released after serving their sentences, and 22 juveniles were granted parole due to good behavior and successful completion of approved rehabilitation programs, based on the recommendations of the social research units and the approval of the competent judicial authorities, in addition to one appeal decision.”

The Ministry affirmed: “The Juvenile Reform Department continues to perform its duties within legal and humanitarian frameworks, through meticulous monitoring of juvenile cases and ensuring the application of legal procedures related to release, in a manner that strengthens the goals of reform, rehabilitation, and reintegration into society.
