Baghdad: The Governor of Karbala, Eng. Nassif Jassem Al-Khattabi, met today with the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Iraq, Dr. Mohammed Al-Hassan, at the United Nations mission headquarters in Baghdad. During the meeting, both sides discussed prospects for joint cooperation between Karbala Governorate and the United Nations, particularly in the fields of development and public services, in a way that supports the efforts of the local government to improve the situation in the province.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Governor Al-Khattabi affirmed Karbala’s keenness to open up and engage with international organizations, stressing the importance of strengthening partnerships that enhance the city’s standing at both national and international levels and benefit its citizens.
For his part, Dr. Al-Hassan expressed his appreciation to the government and people of Karbala, praising the city’s rich history and religious significance, emphasizing that Karbala is one of the world’s great cities with a cultural and historical heritage spanning thousands of years.
