Beirut: The Iraqi Embassy in Beirut has announced an imminent visit by a Lebanese ministerial delegation to Iraq. The announcement came after a meeting between the Charg© d’Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq to the Lebanese Republic, Mohammed Redha Al-Husseini, and Lebanese Minister of Finance, Yassin Jaber, at the Ministry of Finance headquarters in Beirut.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Husseini congratulated Minister Jaber on his new role, expressing Iraq’s steadfast support for Lebanon, particularly during its current challenges. The meeting was a reflection of the enduring and strong relations between the two nations. Minister Jaber conveyed his gratitude to Iraq for its ongoing support, acknowledging the achievements of the Iraqi government in reconstruction and development.

The discussions highlighted the preparations for the Lebanese Minister of Finance’s upcoming visit to Iraq, alongside ministers of Economy and Energy. This delegation will engage with their Iraqi counterparts from the Ministries of Finance, Trade, Oil, and Communications. The visit aims to enhance bilateral cooperation, particularly in the economic sector.

The Lebanese Minister remarked that funds related to Iraqi fuel supplies are now accessible to Lebanon, and his ministry is prepared to complete the necessary procedures to advance mutual interests. Furthermore, both parties explored a draft agreement to prevent double taxation and income tax evasion, emphasizing the need to finalize technical discussions and sign the agreement to boost economic and investment ties between the countries.
