Baghdad: A representative from Kirkuk has announced the collection of approximately 80 parliamentary signatures to support a national initiative aimed at adopting solar energy. Kirkuk MP Mohammed Ali Hussein Al-Nuaimi revealed this development as part of a proposed national program designed to achieve electricity security by promoting home solar energy systems. The initiative seeks to mitigate the ongoing electricity crisis and lessen the financial burden on citizens. According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Nuaimi, who is also a member of the Al-Azm Alliance, explained that the proposal includes several incentives such as exempting solar energy systems from fees and taxes. It also plans to offer interest-free loans to citizens and ensure the adoption of systems that meet specific standards. Additionally, there will be oversight mechanisms to guarantee quality implementation and protect the rights of beneficiaries. Al-Nuaimi emphasized that approximately 80 parliamentary signatures have already been col lected in cooperation with several other MPs. Efforts are ongoing to gather more signatures before the proposal is tabled on the parliamentary agenda. The initiative's ultimate goal is to enhance electricity security and better serve the citizens.
