Kirkuk:The head of the National Wisdom Movement, Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim, announced that Kirkuk is expected to undergo substantial developmental progress in the coming year. This statement was made during his visit to the governorate, where he held a joint press conference with the local government.
According to Iraqi News Agency, Sayyid Al-Hakim highlighted Kirkuk’s role as a symbol of peaceful coexistence in Iraq. He emphasized that success in Kirkuk could lead to broader success across the country. He noted the governorate’s ethnic diversity, its strong security indicators, and its status as the second least impoverished governorate in Iraq.
Al-Hakim underlined Kirkuk’s significance as a pillar of stability and security, predicting a major developmental leap in the next year. Mohammed al-Hafiz, head of the Provincial Council, also remarked on the importance of Al-Hakim’s visit, citing his influence in national decision-making. Al-Hafiz expressed hope for increased financial support and allocations for Kirkuk’s key projects.
The visit includes discussions on political understandings and agreements, stressing that the governance of Kirkuk should avoid a ‘winner-takes-all’ approach. The office of the Al-Hikma Movement confirmed that Al-Hakim’s visit will last two days, during which he will meet with various political parties, local figures, and professionals.
