Baghdad:A delegation from the Kurdistan Region is set to visit Baghdad on Sunday to discuss the 2027 federal budget and resolve outstanding financial and oil-related issues between Baghdad and Erbil.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Sipan Akreyi, a member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party’s parliamentary bloc, confirmed that the high-level delegation will include the region’s finance minister, Awat Janab Nouri. The delegation aims to engage in talks with federal government officials concerning the Kurdistan Region’s share in the upcoming year’s budget.
The visit’s agenda includes meetings with federal ministers of oil, finance, and reconstruction to deliberate on various common issues, including the budget. Akreyi noted that a cabinet meeting initially scheduled for Saturday to discuss the draft budget law was postponed to the following Tuesday due to ongoing disagreements between the parties involved.
Akreyi further highlighted that the disputes between Baghdad and Erbil involve more than just employee salaries. They also include entitlements related to the ASYCUDA system, internal revenues, and unresolved issues pertaining to the oil sector, which necessitate further dialogue between the two sides.
