Erbil: The Ministry of Electricity in the Kurdistan Region issued a clarification on Sunday regarding outstanding debts owed by citizens prior to the “Ronaki” project.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry explained in a press release that discounts on old electricity debts are applicable only to those incurred before the implementation of the “Ronaki” project. These discounts do not apply to monthly electricity bills associated with the “Ronaki” project.

The statement further clarified that old debts pertain to those owed by subscribers before the project reached their areas. Currently, no discounts are available for the monthly bills of the “Ronaki” project, which must be paid within 50 days of the bill’s issuance.

The Ministry stressed that the deadline for discounts on old debts prior to the “Ronaki” project is less than 20 days away. Subscribers are urged to settle their outstanding debts promptly.
