Erbil: The Integrity Commission of the Kurdistan Region announced on Tuesday that financial rewards will be granted to individuals who provide information on corruption cases to the commission.
According to Iraqi News Agency, the head of the commission, Ahmed Anwar, revealed at a press conference that a decision has been made to offer financial rewards to whistleblowers who report corruption cases, provided that all relevant conditions and procedures are satisfied. Anwar specified that the reward's value will be determined by the nature, value, and significance of the reported case, alongside the issuance of a final judicial ruling, to ensure the proper application of the law.
Anwar highlighted that these rewards will be distributed in line with the Integrity Commission Law No. 3 of 2011, as amended by Law No. 7 of 2014, specifically referencing Article 5, Paragraph 2/3, and Article 70, Paragraph Fifth. He encouraged citizens and public employees throughout the Kurdistan Region to report corruption cases and participate in combating this issue at the societal level. Furthermore, he mentioned that the commission has issued an administrative directive to all state institutions, instructing them to inform citizens and employees about the new initiative.
Additionally, Anwar stated that the commission has set up dedicated hotlines for reporting corruption cases and assured that the identity of whistleblowers will remain confidential unless they opt to disclose their names.
