Baghdad: A source in the Kurdistan Region’s Ministry of Finance announced that the region’s delegation met today with the Iraqi Ministry of Finance to discuss the issue of non-oil revenues, but they did not reach a final agreement, and they will continue the meetings tomorrow.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Kurdistan Region delegation, which arrived in Baghdad yesterday evening, engaged in discussions with Finance Minister Taif Sami and several of her officials. The talks focused on the contentious issue of non-oil revenues, specifically tax and fee revenues, with Baghdad demanding the entirety of these revenues, while the Kurdistan Region has agreed to only 50% of customs and border revenues.

The Kurdistan Region’s delegation is comprised of the Director General of Accounting at the Ministry of Finance, Kofan Tahsin, the Director General of Taxes, Kamal Tayeb, and several directors general from the Kurdistan Regional Government’s Board of Supreme Audit. These negotiations are part of ongoing discussions, following previous meetings with the Iraqi government’s ministerial committee on August 19, 2025, and the subsequent meeting with the Minister of Finance, where no agreement was reached.
