Rabat: The Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), based in Rabat, has unveiled the “ICESCO Arabic Language Pavilion” initiative. The event was graced by a distinguished assembly of academics and researchers who specialize in the Arabic language, its pedagogy, and its propagation across the globe.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the initiative is designed to bolster the presence of Arabic within the international academic community and to foster a consistent tradition of scholarly dialogue on topics concerning language, linguistics, and translation. This initiative is expected to play a crucial role in promoting intellectual exchanges and enhancing the academic discourse surrounding the Arabic language.

During the first linguistic council meeting at ICESCO’s headquarters, Ahmed Al-Bunyan, Director of the Translation and Publishing Center at ICESCO, highlighted the pavilion’s significance as an institutional scientific platform. He noted that it will facilitate dialogue and intellectual exchange, while also aiding in the documentation, publication, and translation of scholarly works. This is seen as a vital step in reinforcing Arabic’s global standing.

The Director of the ISESCO Center for Arabic Language for Non-Native Speakers further elaborated that the pavilion adds substantial value to the Center’s existing programs. It aligns with ICESCO’s commitment to elevating Arabic as a global language of thought, scientific production, and cultural communication. The session also featured a scholarly lecture titled “Arabic Among African Languages,” which delved into the historical and linguistic ties between Arabic and African languages, underscoring Arabic’s influence in shaping the cultural and intellectual landscape of Africa.
