Minsk: Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced that Russia and Iran are on the verge of finalizing a significant partnership agreement, with a particular emphasis on defense collaboration. Lavrov disclosed this development during his address at the Second Minsk International Conference on Eurasian Security.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Lavrov emphasized that the forthcoming agreement on a comprehensive strategic partnership between the two nations will be pivotal in bolstering Russian-Iranian relations. The agreement, which is nearing completion, reflects a mutual aspiration to enhance defense cooperation, thereby contributing to peace and security on both regional and global scales.

Further elaborating on the broader geopolitical landscape, Lavrov remarked that enduring stability on the Eurasian continent hinges on the establishment of reliable security guarantees. He referenced Russia’s December 2021 initiative, which outlines the need for such guarantees. Lavrov critiqued NATO’s acti
ons, suggesting that the alliance is not satisfied with its ongoing conflict with Russia, allegedly orchestrated through the government in Kiev. He accused NATO of expanding its geopolitical confrontations across the entire Eurasian region.
