Baghdad: The Tiro Arts Association and the Istambouli Theatre have announced the organization of the 13th edition of the Lebanese International Theatre Festival, set to take place in Beirut from September 19th to 22nd. The festival will showcase theatrical performances from Lebanon, several Arab countries including Iraq, and international venues. It will run under the slogan “Theatre: Spectacle that Carries the Concerns of Society.”

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Qassem Istambouli, founder of the Lebanese National Theatre and an actor and director, highlighted the festival’s aim to address the ongoing conflict in Lebanon and underscore the importance of maintaining open theatrical spaces in both war and peace. Istambouli emphasized the role of young volunteers in achieving a decentralized cultural landscape, breaking down perceived barriers between Lebanese regions through the arts.

Istambouli expressed enthusiasm about the festival’s realization in Beirut, particularly through the establishment of the Lebanese National Theatre in the historic Colis©e Cinema. This development follows the theatre’s previous establishments in Tyre and Tripoli, marking a significant milestone for both Lebanese and Arab theatre.
