Baghdad: A legal expert and consultant, Salem Hawas, has urged the newly elected Speaker of the House of Representatives to enforce strict adherence to constitutional and legal restrictions for parliament members. Hawas emphasized that parliamentary duties should be carried out within the legislature and not through media or social networks.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Hawas highlighted Article (61) of the Constitution, which clearly delineates the powers and responsibilities of parliament members. He stressed the importance of avoiding political, sectarian, and ethnic conflicts that can exacerbate divisions in society. Furthermore, Hawas noted that the article contains nine main clauses with several sub-provisions, focusing on the enactment of federal laws and oversight of the executive authority as the primary constitutional roles of lawmakers. These responsibilities, he argued, should be executed within the parliament, rather than on television or social media platforms.
