Baghdad: The Arab Parliament reiterated the importance of the 34th Arab Summit, hosted by the capital, Baghdad, next week, for the region and the Arab world as a whole.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Libyan parliament member Abdul Salam Al-Nassiya stated that Iraq is today one of the countries where one feels safest, most comfortable, and most stable, with visible signs of urbanization and development. He emphasized that holding the summit in Baghdad serves as an acknowledgment by the Arab community that the city has become a center for Arab decision-making. This is particularly significant amid the challenging circumstances surrounding the Palestinian cause and the attempts to displace Palestinians.
Al-Nassiya further explained that the summit marks Iraq's return to leading joint Arab action, both at parliamentary and governmental levels. He highlighted the Arab Parliament meetings in Baghdad last month, which underscored the importance of adopting and implementing the Egyptian plan to rebuild Gaza and called for firm Arab positions against countries permitting war criminals to traverse their territories in violation of international law and humanitarian norms. These outcomes will be presented to Arab leaders and kings at the summit to evolve into official Arab decisions.
