Baghdad: The head of the Supreme Committee for Million-Person Visits continues to review the ongoing preparations and plans for commemorating the Arbaeen pilgrimage. Lieutenant General Dr. Qais Al-Muhammadawi, Deputy Commander of Joint Operations and Head of the Supreme Committee for the Million-Person Pilgrimage, chaired a comprehensive conference today at the Joint Operations Command headquarters. The conference was attended by the Head of the Border Ports Authority and senior officials and directors from the Ministry of Interior.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the conference also included, via closed-circuit television, police commanders from the governorates of Babylon, Najaf, Diwaniyah, Muthanna, Dhi Qar, Wasit, and the holy city of Samarra. The conference addressed the implementation and organization of plans for the Border Ports Authority and its preparations for receiving pilgrims. It also discussed the plan for the Ministry of Interior's formations to ensure the success of the Arba'een pilgrimage to the shrine of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him).
The latest security and service preparations were reviewed, and mechanisms for high-level coordination between various security units and supporting service agencies were discussed. The aim is to provide maximum protection and smooth flow for the large numbers of pilgrims arriving from inside and outside Iraq. The conference also addressed the principles of maneuverability and endurance for security forces.
At the conclusion of the conference, the Deputy Commander of Joint Operations issued a number of important recommendations, including the necessity of organizing passenger areas designated for transporting pilgrims to prevent overcrowding and congestion. He emphasized the activation of traffic and civil defense detachments on all routes, as well as reinforcing emergency patrols to provide immediate support and secure roads and vital intersections throughout the pilgrimage, with particular attention to pilgrim movement, especially at night.
He also stressed the great and pivotal importance of the Arba'een pilgrimage as a global event that embodies the values of unity and giving, emphasizing the need for concerted security and service efforts to present this occasion in a civilized and dignified manner befitting its great significance in the hearts of Muslims and its profound humanitarian and religious message to the entire world.
