Macron Announces Iran’s Release of French Citizens

Paris: French President Emmanuel Macron announced on Tuesday the release of French citizens C©cile Kohler and Jacques Barry by Iranian authorities, months after their detention on security-related charges.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Macron stated in a press conference that “Iran has released French citizens C©cile Kohler and Jacques Barry, who had been detained since 2022,” without disclosing further details regarding the circumstances of their release.

Iranian authorities arrested Kohler and Barry in May 2022 during a visit to Iran and charged them with “undermining national security,” charges which Paris denied.
