Khanaqin:Diyala: A significant security operation was launched by the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) in the Thallab Basin, southwest of Khanaqin District. The operation aims to counter ISIS movements and prevent the establishment of new terrorist hideouts in the area.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Commander of the Diyala Operations for the PMF, Talib al-Musawi, stated that the operation commenced across three axes with the cooperation of the Iraqi Army’s 1st Division and PMF brigades, supported by various specialized units.
The first axis is led by Iraqi Army forces moving from southwest Khanaqin towards the Balkana axis. The second axis involves a joint effort between the Iraqi Army and the PMF’s 110th Brigade, starting from the Kani Masi area. The third axis is executed by the PMF’s 24th Brigade, beginning at the ‘Destroyed Mosque’ intersection, with artillery, field engineering, explosive ordnance disposal (EOD), and intelligence units participating.
Al-Musawi highlighted that the operation is progressing effectively, with forces continuing their search and sweep activities. Further details and results of the operation are expected to be announced in due course.
