Basra: A delegation from the General Company for Maritime Transport, led by the Assistant Director General for Administrative Affairs, Firas Abdul Salam Al-Bajari, recently engaged in discussions with Iranian officials to enhance joint cooperation in river transport. This initiative aims to facilitate the movement of pilgrims commemorating the Arbaeen of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him).

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the company’s Director General, Ahmed Jassim Al-Asadi, stated that this meeting was convened under the directives of the Minister of Transport, Razzaq Muhaibis Al-Saadawi. The discussions focused on preparations for the pilgrimage, emphasizing the use of river transport to alleviate congestion at land ports and providing safe and convenient transportation solutions for the pilgrims.

Furthermore, the talks included the activation of the river-sea line between Iraq and Iran. Both parties are committed to developing the maritime transport sector, which will enhance logistical cooperation and serve the mutual interests of the two nations.
