Maysan: The Maysan Writers and Authors Union recently held a celebration honoring translator Abdul-Hakim Yassin during its Translation Club evenings. The cultural session focused on discussing his book, “The Arabs of the Ottoman Empire,” and was attended by a group of writers, intellectuals, and cultural enthusiasts.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the event featured various interventions and discussions that enriched the session’s themes. Participants such as Karim Saeed, Dr. Jabbar Majid Al-Bahadli, Abbas Dakhel Habib, Abdul-Karim Al-Hashemi, and Haider Qasim emphasized the importance of translation in enriching the Arabic library and promoting intellectual exchange.

The Union’s administration concluded the evening by honoring Yassin with a portrait, gifted by poet and critic Majid Al-Hassan, as a token of appreciation for his contributions to translation and the cultural landscape.
