Media and Communications Commission Closes Korek Telecom Sites in Baghdad


Baghdad: The Communications and Media Commission announced on Thursday the closure of several Korek Telecom sites in Baghdad, as part of implementing the regulatory decisions and procedures taken against the company.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Commission stated that in coordination with the Iraqi National Security Service, it carried out field operations to close several Korek Telecom sites in Baghdad. This move is part of the regulatory decisions and procedures taken against the company.



The Commission’s statement detailed that the measures included closing three sales centers belonging to the company in the Al-Arasat, Palestine Street, and Al-Mansour districts, along with the company’s main site in the Al-Jadriya district. This action was conducted in the presence of specialized teams from the Commission and in coordination with the National Security Service.



These closures are part of the Communications and Media Commission’s efforts to follow up on the implementation of decisions regarding Korek Telecom. The actions aim to complete the legal and regulatory requirements related to halting the company’s operations, in coordination with relevant governmental and security authorities.



The Commission reiterated its commitment to taking necessary measures to implement its decisions in line with applicable legal and regulatory frameworks. It emphasized the importance of preserving the rights of the state, the public interest, and the rights of telecommunications service users.
