Baghdad: The Military Intelligence Directorate announced the arrest of seven terrorist elements in three governorates. The Directorate stated in a statement: ‘In separate operations based on accurate intelligence information from the Intelligence Branch of the Commands of Divisions (8, 10 and 16) and in cooperation with the ground forces present in the areas of responsibility, and through tight ambushes and raids on terrorist locations, we have arrested 7 terrorists wanted by the Iraqi judiciary in accordance with the provisions of Article 4 of the Anti-Terrorism Law in various areas of the governorates (Anbar, Kirkuk and Nineveh), who were working and belonging to ISIS terrorist gangs in various ranks, and they had participated in several terrorist attacks against the Iraqi security forces previously, and they were handed over to the requesting parties in the field and in principle.’
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the arrests were conducted by leveraging precise intelligence from the Intelligence Branch of Divisions 8, 10, and 16. The operations were carried out with the collaboration of ground forces in the respective areas, employing strategic ambushes and raids on the identified terrorist locations. The seven individuals apprehended were associated with ISIS and had previously participated in numerous attacks targeting Iraqi security forces. They have been transferred to the appropriate authorities for further legal proceedings.
