Baghdad: Minister of Education Abdul Karim Abtan al-Jubouri honored 140 male and female students from the sixth grade of secondary school, representing 52 schools in the Karkh First district.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the honoring took place during the “Leaders of the Alphabet” ceremony, an initiative to recognize top-achieving students, held at the Baghdad International Fair. The ceremony was sponsored by the head of the Baghdad Provincial Council, Ammar al-Hamdani, and attended by the Governor of Baghdad, Atwan al-Atwani, Ambassador Baraa al-Nimr, the Director General of Education for Baghdad’s Karkh First district, Dr. Furqan Mahmoud Rajab, along with a number of officials, parents, and school administrators.

The statement added that the Minister of Education delivered a speech in which he emphasized that excellence is the fruit of effort and diligence, and that Iraq needs the knowledge and ambition of its students. He praised the role of families and educational staff in their journey, and affirmed the Ministry’s commitment to nurturing high-achieving students and supporting their academic aspirations.

The statement continued, “The ceremony concluded with the distribution of certificates of appreciation to the students, following official speeches and the screening of a documentary highlighting the achievements of the Baghdad Provincial Council and the Ministry of Education within the educational institution, in addition to a poetry recital.”
