Minister of Health: Health Institutions Are Fully Prepared to Confront Any Radioactive Contamination

Baghdad: Minister of Health Saleh al-Hasnawi affirmed that all health institutions are fully prepared to confront any potential emergency regarding radioactive contamination due to the Zionist attacks on Iran. Al-Hasnawi said in a televised statement that “a meeting was held, chaired by the Prime Minister, to discuss the current situation as well as future scenarios in the event of radioactive contamination as a result of the Zionist attack on neighboring Iran.” He noted that “all institutions of the Ministry of Health are fully prepared to confront any emergency, and human resources are on alert, with medicines, medical supplies, and blood banks available.”

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Minister reassured citizens about the current situation, calling on them “not to listen to rumors and statements by unqualified individuals regarding the radioactive issue.” He pointed out that “the Ministry of Health continues to raise health awareness and issue statements related to the health aspect and how to deal with emergency situations.”

He explained that “in the event of any radioactive contamination, it is sufficient to simply stay at home and close the windows, and this in itself is sufficient to protect against radiation. In the event that people are exposed to radioactive contamination, there are special stations spread throughout all governorates that deal with such cases.”
