Basra: Minister of Industry and Minerals Khaled Battal Al-Najm engaged in discussions with Saudi Ajial Company about the potential establishment of a petrochemical complex in Basra Governorate.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry issued a statement indicating that the Minister convened a meeting at the Ministry’s headquarters with officials from Saudi Ajial Company. The focus of the meeting was on the possibility of signing a partnership contract for a petrochemical complex to be built on the land of the General Company for Petrochemical Industries in Basra Governorate.

The statement elaborated that the meeting covered the details of the partnership agreement and explored proposed mechanisms for supplying the project with natural gas, LPG, or alternative power sources. Additionally, technical and legal aspects of the project were reviewed.

The Minister highlighted the project’s significance as part of the Ministry’s plan to revive and develop strategic industries, aiming to bolster Iraq’s industrial base. He instructed ongoing discussions and coordination with relevant authorities to secure the necessary requirements for advancing the project.
