Minister of Interior and Iranian Police Chief Discuss Cross-Border Crime Cooperation

Baghdad: An expanded meeting was held today between Minister of Interior Abdul-Amir Al-Shammari and Commander-in-Chief of Iranian Police Ahmad-Reza Radan, with several leaders from both countries in attendance. The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation in areas of mutual concern.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry highlighted that key topics of discussion included enhancing cooperation in combating cross-border crime, exchanging expertise and information, activating memoranda of understanding, and setting specific areas and timelines to ensure successful implementation of agreements.

Minister Al-Shammari emphasized the importance of coordination and cooperation between Iraq and its neighboring countries to achieve common security goals, stressing that no nation can thrive or stabilize in isolation.

He elaborated that the collaboration between Iraq and Iran has led to significant achievements, such as the arrest of dangerous drug dealers and individuals wanted for organized crime, as well as improved control of international borders. The positive outcomes of this cooperation were also evident during the Arbaeen pilgrimage, where security plans were executed effectively.

During the meeting, Commander-in-Chief Radan was briefed on the operations of several directorates within the Iraqi Ministry of Interior, gaining insights into the work of these critical units.
