Baghdad: The Minister of Interior, Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, has directed the continued implementation of arrest warrants against individuals wanted for drug-related crimes. This directive underscores the government's commitment to combating drug issues within the country.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry of Interior released a statement detailing that Minister Al-Shammari participated in a monthly briefing conducted by the General Directorate for Combating Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances. During this briefing, which was attended by the director of the department and several officers from Baghdad and other governorates, the Minister was informed about the progress made in combating drugs. The discussion also covered the operations conducted and the quantities of drugs seized.
The statement emphasized that the Minister highlighted the necessity of intensifying efforts, updating plans, and making optimal use of available resources and capabilities to combat drugs effectively. Al-Shammari stressed the reliance on precise intelligence efforts and reiterated the importance of continued enforcement of arrest warrants against those wanted for drug-related crimes. Additionally, he called for a review of the operations of forced clinics dealing with drug-related issues.
The Minister also underscored the importance of conducting awareness and educational campaigns targeting all segments of Iraqi society. These campaigns aim to expose the negative impacts of drug abuse and enhance public knowledge regarding the dangers associated with this issue.
