Baghdad: Interior Minister Abdul Amir Al-Shammari emphasized the need to strengthen border fortifications and expand the use of advanced technologies to secure Iraq’s borders, reaffirming ongoing efforts to enhance operational efficiency in border protection.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the minister noted that the conference is a key step toward establishing a clear vision for improving operations and overcoming challenges. He expressed his intention to generalize the experience by holding similar conferences across all ministry commands.

Presiding over an extended conference at the Border Guard Command headquarters, Al-Shammari directed the continuation of training programs and specialized courses due to their vital role in developing the command’s performance. He also underscored the necessity of addressing administrative requirements for officers and personnel.

Al-Shammari praised the members of the Border Guard Forces, describing them as ‘a bright point within the Ministry of Interior’ for their ongoing achievements.

The conference included a detailed briefing on the outcomes achieved in border control over the past three years, addressing major obstacles and future strategies to resolve them. Distinguished officers and personnel were honored in recognition of their exceptional efforts.

The event was attended by ministry leaders and a number of officers who reviewed the operational progress and development plans in border security.
