Geneva: Minister of Trade Atheer Dawood Al-Ghurairi discussed enhancing technical cooperation and developing export capabilities with the Executive Director of the International Trade Centre (ITC).

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry stated that Al-Ghurairi met in Geneva with Executive Director of the International Trade Centre (ITC), Pamela Coke-Hamilton, on the sidelines of his participation in the 16th session of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).

The statement added, “During the meeting, ways to enhance technical cooperation between Iraq and the International Trade Centre were discussed, particularly in the areas of developing export capabilities, supporting small and medium-sized enterprises, and enabling the private sector to enter global markets.”

The Minister affirmed the Iraqi government and the Ministry of Trade keenness to benefit from the Center’s expertise in developing programs to support trade, diversify exports, and enhance the competitiveness of national products. He praised the vital role played by the International Trade Center in supporting developing countries and facilitating their integration into the international trading system.

For her part, Executive Director of the International Trade Center, Pamela Coke-Hamilton, welcomed the expansion of cooperation with Iraq, affirming the Center’s readiness to provide technical and advisory support in the areas of e-commerce, export development, and institutional training, in line with the priorities and future plans of the Iraqi Ministry of Trade.
