Baghdad: The Minister of Transport, Wahab al-Hassani, has announced strategic support for the Railways and Ports sports clubs, aiming to enhance their competitiveness in the Iraqi League. This initiative was revealed during a recent meeting with former national team stars, Captain Hadi Ahmed and Captain Mohammed Abdul Hussein, as well as Salam Hashim, the director of the Railways Club, to discuss the current state and future prospects of Iraqi sports.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry of Transport issued a press release detailing the outcomes of the meeting. The Minister directed the Director General of the Iraqi Republic Railways Company to provide essential support to the Railways Club, ensuring its active participation in league competitions. Similarly, he instructed the Director General of the Iraqi Ports Company to closely monitor the Ports Club’s affairs and address its sporting requirements.

Minister al-Hassani reiterated his commitment to fostering Iraqi sports and supporting athletes, highlighting the significance of nurturing sporting talent and safeguarding the nation’s athletic legacy. He emphasized that all possible measures would be taken to assist and uplift the sports community in Iraq.
