Baghdad: The Minister of Water Resources, Muthanna al-Tamimi, emphasized the importance of enhancing bilateral relations with Russia in the water sector during a meeting with the Russian Ambassador to Iraq, Elbrus Kutrashev. The discussions focused on leveraging Russian expertise to improve water management in Iraq.

According to Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry of Water Resources issued a press release highlighting the meeting between Minister Al-Tamimi and Ambassador Kutrashev. They explored strategies to enhance cooperation and benefit from Russia’s advanced capabilities in water resources management. The meeting also addressed the transfer of expertise in modern irrigation technologies, dam construction, and methods to combat water scarcity, aiming to improve Iraq’s water infrastructure.

Al-Tamimi stressed the necessity of strengthening ties with Russia amid the current climate challenges affecting the region. He highlighted Iraq’s eagerness to explore new opportunities for productive collaboration that would benefit the vital water sector.

Ambassador Kutrashev affirmed Russia’s willingness to share modern technologies and specialized knowledge with Iraq. He expressed support for the Iraqi government’s efforts to develop its water system, contributing to sustainable development and bolstering water security in the country.
