Baghdad: The Minister of Water Resources is actively overseeing the maintenance of pumps within the Al-Wahda project to ensure the delivery of water to treatment projects. Minister Muthanna al-Tamimi recently visited the Unit No. (1) project station, which is under the General Authority for the Operation of Irrigation and Drainage Projects, alongside the Assistant Director of the Iraq Company. The visit aimed to inspect the pump operations and assess the ongoing maintenance and operational activities at the project site.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry highlighted in a press release that the Unit project plays a crucial role in supplying the Madain area, extending approximately 30 kilometers. It serves an agricultural area estimated at 60,000 dunams and supports seven water desalination projects, additionally providing water to the Besmaya power station.

During his visit, Minister al-Tamimi instructed that the maintenance of the pumps be expedited and their operational readiness be improved. He emphasized the need for direct supervision over the maintenance phases to ensure continuous pumping, thereby securing the water needs of the beneficiary areas and projects.

Moreover, al-Tamimi directed efforts to pump water into the Madain Canal at a rate of up to 12 cubic meters, facilitating water delivery to treatment plants and ensuring their water requirements are met. He underscored the necessity of continuous monitoring of operation and maintenance tasks to maintain the project's sustainability and the efficiency of the water supply system.
