Ministerial Council Approves Iraqi National Security Strategy for 2025-2030

Baghdad: The Ministerial Council for National Security has given its approval to the Iraqi National Security Strategy for the years 2025 to 2030, along with the associated implementation plan. This significant decision was made during a regular meeting chaired by Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mohammed Shia al-Sudani.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting addressed the overall security situation in the country and discussed several agenda items, leading to necessary decisions and recommendations. A key topic was the upcoming Arab Summit, set to be hosted in Baghdad on May 17th, for which the council reviewed the latest preparations.

The council's approval of the Iraqi National Security Strategy marks a critical step in advancing national security initiatives. The strategy's implementation will follow a predefined executive plan, aiming to strengthen Iraq's security framework.

Another important subject at the meeting was the criminal justice data integration project. Discussions were held on the progress of the technical committee's work, emphasizing the need for rapid digital transformation in transaction completion. The council also focused on distributing responsibilities among criminal justice institutions and adopting a unified national classification of crimes. These efforts aim to enhance Iraq's international reputation by aligning with United Nations resolutions.
