Baghdad: The Ministry of Agriculture is actively promoting energy efficiency and examining the impacts of climate change on the agricultural sector. The ministry recently organized a meeting of the ISO Energy and Efficiency Team and a specialized workshop on climate change and its impacts under the supervision of Dr. Suhada Obaid Tayeh, Director of the Department of Total Quality Management and Institutional Development.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, discussions during the meeting centered around implementing the annual plan for 2026, focusing on energy efficiency and emissions reduction. The workshop provided a platform to address prominent climate challenges, their repercussions on the agricultural sector, and strategies to mitigate these impacts.
These initiatives are part of a national effort to support energy and reduce emissions. Dr. Mithaq Abdul Hussein, the Ministry’s Technical Undersecretary, represented the ministry on the ISO Energy and Efficiency Team, with participation from various ministry departments and companies.
The Ministry of Agriculture continues to strive for improved institutional performance, enhanced energy efficiency, reduced emissions, and greater preparedness of the agricultural sector to face climate change. These efforts aim to support sustainable agricultural development.
