Sulaymaniyah: The Ministry of Culture participated in the Sulaymaniyah meeting as part of the "It's Time for the Women of Iraq" initiative. Dr. Muntaser Sabah Al-Hasnawi, Director General of the Conference Palace Department, represented the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Antiquities in this high-level meeting. Organized by the Aswada Organization with backing from the Swiss Embassy in Iraq, the meeting focused on bolstering political commitment to women's participation and leadership.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Hasnawi highlighted that the culture of exclusion and marginalization limits the presence of Iraqi women through stereotypes and social and media pressures. He underscored that enhancing women's participation requires more than just legislation and representation quotas. It also involves addressing the cultural and social environment, considering the growing influence of social media in shaping public opinion.
The discussions at the meeting centered on strategies to enhance women's political and institutional participation, developing a supportive legal and security environment, empowering women in leadership and economic roles, and strengthening their presence in peace processes and decision-making. Officials and representatives from governmental and parliamentary institutions, along with civil society organizations, were in attendance.
