Baghdad: The Ministry of Education announced on Saturday the closure of 158 unlicensed educational institutions in cooperation with the National Security Service.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry’s media office stated in a press release that the Ministry of Education closed 158 unlicensed private educational institutions following surprise field visits to tutoring centers conducted by the relevant ministerial committee in cooperation with the National Security Service, and legal measures were taken against those in charge.

The statement indicated that Minister of Education Abdul Karim Abtan al-Jubouri directed continued monitoring of the work of private educational institutions and dealing with entities practicing educational activity without official authorization, in accordance with established regulations.

Furthermore, the statement added that the ministerial committee oversaw the work of the subcommittees in the general directorates of education in Baghdad and the provinces, and conducted the visits during the months of May, June, and July 2026, resulting in the closure of 158 violating institutions.
