Baghdad: The Administrative Undersecretary of the Ministry of Environment, Iktifaa Al-Hasnawi, engaged in discussions with the Japanese Ambassador regarding the delivery mechanism of the Al-Faleqa mine clearance grant.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement from the Ministry of Environment detailed the meeting, highlighting the bilateral cooperation between Iraq and Japan. The discussion focused on the Faleqa grant, provided by the Japanese government, which is earmarked for mine and munitions clearance. Al-Hasnawi underscored the grant’s significance in bolstering the Ministry’s mine clearance initiatives, noting that the Faleqa equipment is crucial for enhancing the field teams’ capabilities.

The Japanese Ambassador reiterated Japan’s dedication to supporting Iraq in environmental and mine clearance efforts. He affirmed Japan’s commitment to delivering the necessary technical and logistical assistance to strengthen Iraq’s capabilities in these areas.

The statement further elaborated that this grant is part of a series of initiatives by the Japanese government aimed at supporting Iraq’s mine clearance efforts and fostering a safe and sustainable environment.
