Baghdad: The Ministry of Interior has taken decisive legal action against a police officer who was involved in the assault of a citizen, leading to his detention.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry revealed that a video circulating on social media depicted a group of individuals, including one wearing the Federal Police Command uniform, engaging in the severe beating of two citizens. The investigation confirmed that the officer was off-duty and wearing his official uniform during the assault. In response, Dr. Hussein Al-Awadi, the Senior Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior, alongside the Commander of the Federal Police Forces, directed the implementation of necessary legal measures against the officer, resulting in his detention.

The Ministry further clarified that its relevant authorities are actively pursuing investigations to comprehensively understand the circumstances surrounding the incident.
