Diwaniyah: The senior undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior has directed that swift and deterrent legal measures be taken against an officer and three personnel following the assault on a female detainee in Diwaniyah.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Dr. Hussein Al-Awadi, the Senior Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior, has mandated immediate legal action against those implicated in the incident at a police station in Diwaniyah Governorate. Dr. Al-Awadi emphasized that the Ministry will not condone any violation of human dignity or breaches of law.
The Ministry of Interior, in its press release, stated that the individuals involved are to be referred to the relevant investigative and judicial authorities. The Ministry also confirmed that the most stringent legal and administrative measures will be imposed on anyone found guilty of involvement. Dr. Al-Awadi reiterated that such actions do not reflect the principles of the Ministry or the ethics expected of a police officer.
The Senior Undersecretary further affirmed the Ministry's commitment to holding accountable those who abuse power or violate citizens' rights, ensuring that the law is applied uniformly without exception.
